NetMOD and AVM Fritz!BOX 5050

As you may already know Telekom Srbija our phone company was sold 49% to Italy and Greece. I dont know what Italy got from that share but Greece got public phones and ISDN. So I got that Greek ISDN and NetMOD with it. Now I am trying to connect it with xDSL router AVM Fritz!BOX Fon 5050 without success. Because our telephony operators are not familiar with technical support of any kind to ISDN users, I am quite stuck here.

Ok, I will first try to explain mine exact hardware configuration:

NetMOD hardware revision .60 with latest Serbian firmware for that model. [[Found a way to install it via USB to Windows 7 x64 so NetMOD Configuration Manager is working - if needed]]

AVM Fritz!BOX 5050 [black] - originally 1und1 network - customized firmware 12.04.31 English Annex A. Yet it does not matter is it Annex A or B simply because I dont get internet connection to it by DSL but by LAN A port and LAN B or USB connection to computer - both work relatively fine. [[EDIT: I would also like to notice here that it works same with German AVM recovery firmware image 12.04.31 - just in case anyone gets idea that customized firmware is the problem]]

Ok now problems. I used to connect patch RJ45 cable of NetMOD S0 port with Fritz ISDN/Analog port and analog phone trough RJ11 Fon1 connector on AVM. Whatever I connect it, it doesnt seem to work. Phone is getting same signals whatever ISDN line is connected or not. From Fritz manual I saw that when I pick up the phone I get "Internal dial tone" after it when I press any key except 5 i get instant "Busy" tone. In case of number 5 it lets me to dial random combination of 7 numbers after which I get ringing!? and after a minute busy tone again.

When I pick up the phone from its base I get notification icon on AVM Fritz that phone is in use, however NetMOD is not responding at all. I did try to make SW1 switch in ON position but that didnt help at all. Thing is from AVM documentation that Fritz supports only point-to-multipoint [ptmp] network terminal settings and from what I saw at NetMOD manual, NetMOD supports point-to-point [ptp] and some workaround for ptmp but not real ptmp. However, while searching internet I saw some of yours users that managed to get this combination to work but with little explanation how they did so.

All I want to achieve. for start. is to get my analog phones dial to fixed lines via Fritz connected to NetMOD. Only when I solve this I will move to setuping VoIP and maybe Asterisk but for that I have a lot of documentation already so it will not be a big problem.

Any ideas?

Dear Miodrag, you must have an Annex B ADSL router, in order to get Internet feed over ISDN telephone line. More specific, you need one ISDN splitter. Connect the "line" connector to the wall. The "phone" connector to Netdom and the "ADSL" connector to the ISDN Annex B ADSL router.

JPan, thanks but like I said before mine issue isnt related to getting internet to work with Fritz but analog phones. I do not own DSL connection but cable and I am using option in Fritz to connect it to internet via UTP LAN A port - as normal nonDSL router.


Anyways I have some updates:

I noticed that when I connect NetMOD S0 line with Fritz ISDN/Analog line in Point-To-Point mode [SW1 switch ON] I can receive calls, but still I am unable to dial out nor to get dial signal.

Other thing I have try is to get Short-Passive-Bus to work same way. So I connected 1 NetMOD S0 port with RJ11 tripple switch box, from it second end to Fritz and third to Rx/Tx 100 O resistor adapter [Terminator]. Also other NetMOD S0 port with same terminator. All this configuration is with SW1 and SW3 switches OFF. But results are the same - no dial tone and I can receive calls.

Any ideas?

To get dial tone to the phones connected to the Fritz, (Fon1 and Fon2 if I remember right) you need to set them up for direct external dialing, otherwise you need to dial 0 first.
You also need to set up the fixed line number and any msn's you may have in the fritz, and assign the numbers that each connected phone will ring on.

Another Update:

I managed to get Fritz full in full working order by connecting it to NetMOD via NetMOD ab1 to Fritz ISDN/Analog port [RJ45 to RJ11 adapter] - as an analog device. So Fritz is operating properly. Still its not acceptable solution because this way only 1 MSN can go over Fritz.

I am assuming that there is a trick with cable setup rather than Fritz configuration.

Are you sure that the fritz being an ANNEX A version has only to do with it's adsl features? Perhaps it is also defining it's telephony features so that is acts as an analog device.
